Spiritual Support

~ Why me?
~ How can God let my son die?
~ Is there meaning to this suffering?
~ My life will be worth nothing when my loved one dies!
~ Did I fulfill my life’s purpose?

It is not unusual for these and many other questions to run through the minds of those touched by a life-limiting disease.  The nondenominational chaplains of Avow Hospice help patients and their families answer questions that are part of coming to terms with death. Their job is to help ease emotional and spiritual pain, much as a nurse and physician work to relieve physical pain.

Avow Hospice is not connected with any religious group. Our philosophy is always to "meet the patient where he or she is," supporting the patient's spiritual and religious beliefs and honoring the patient's traditions. We also work side by side with religious leaders who are close to the patient or family.

Spiritual care is an integral part of our care for the whole person. It is also a valuable component of our care for family members, who must make sense of the death of their loved one and build a life that healthfully incorporates their memories.
